Go for it Rafa – This 26-year-old Hoffenheim star would be a perfect upgrade on Yedlin at Newcastle

Why Pavel Kaderabek would be an upgrade on DeAndre Yedlin at Newcastle

According to an earlier report from Wales Online, Southampton and West Ham were amongst the Premier League clubs interested in signing Czech Republic international right-back Pavel Kaderabek.

However, a move to the Premier League failed to materialise and Kaderabek joined TSG Hoffenheim in 2015 after helping his former club win the league and the cup double.

A product of Sparta Prague’s youth system, Kaderabek made his senior debut in 2010 and went on to make 110 appearances for his boyhood club, accumulating 12 goals and 22 assists across all competitions. His heroics in the Czech league earned him a move to Hoffenheim in 2015 and he has never looked back since then.

The 26-year-old, who was a part of Czech Republic’s squad that took part at the 2016 Euro Cup in France, has 6 goals and 13 assists from 109 appearances to his name for Hoffenheim.

Kaderabek started his career as a right-winger at Sparta Prague but has been converted into a right-wing back/full-back at Hoffenheim. His ability to play as a full-back and a wing-back on either flank makes him an extremely valuable asset to any team.

The 26-year-old is a utility player who can improve the squad depth and the dynamics of any side in Europe. While he is very compact and composed at the back, Kaderabek does not hesitate to bomb forward with pace whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Hoffenheim’s tactics necessitate the wing-backs to operate as wide forwards in the attacking third and the Czech international has not only thrived but has excelled in a back-three system.

Kaderabek is adept at finding the runs of his teammates with accurate pull-backs from the wide areas and also has the ability to set up goals with his crossing. He is a quality player with high work rate who never hesitates to stick his foot out when required.

He would be a great signing for Newcastle United. The Magpies have resurrected their campaign after a disastrous start but they still have a lot of work to do to in the second half of the season if they are to secure a respectable finish.

Newcastle’s resurgence has been led by Salomon Rondon, who has chipped in with some valuable goals in the last couple of months. The Venezuelan was once again on target as Newcastle pinched a point with a 1-1 draw against Watford.

Rondon’s strength lies in his ability to find the net from dead-ball deliveries and Newcastle need to play to his strengths. The likes of Matt Ritchie and Jacob Murphy have supplied the centre-forward with some meaningful deliveries into the box but Rafael Benitez’s back-three system needs a specialist wing-back who can contribute equally to both the defence and the attack.

And that is where someone like Pavel Kaderabek would fit the bill at St. James’ Park. He would certainly be an upgrade on DeAndre Yedlin in all aspects of the game.

The Magpies should start keeping tabs on the Hoffenheim man ahead of the January transfer window.
