Go for it Nuno – Wolves signing this 41-goal top dribbler could be a massive statement of intent

According to reports, newly-promoted Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers are chasing FC Porto attacker Yacine Brahimi.

Wolves were outstanding in the Championship last term and won the title with two games to spare. Nuno Espirito Santo made Wolves play an attacking and expansive brand of football that swatted teams away left, right and centre.

But now with the Premier League big boys, Nuno shouldn’t expect his current crop of players to carry on the task smoothly such as they did in the Championship this past season. Wolves need reinforcements at every area of the pitch which would then give them a chance to sustain in England’s top-flight.

One particular position where the Wolves undoubtedly need to improve is the wide attacking area. Nuno has a plethora of attacking options at his disposal but they lack the experience to compete at the highest level. So signing an attacking player with a wealth of experience would do very well for Wolves.

With this in mind, Nuno should consider a move for FC Porto ace, Yacine Brahimi. He knows Brahimi in and out, with the pair having previously worked together when the Wolves head coach managed the Portuguese heavyweights during the 2016/17 campaign.

Brahimi, 28, has been a key player for Porto since he arrived from Spanish side Granada back in 2014. He scored 12 goals and set up 10 more in 49 games last season, while in total, he has thus far turned out 166 times for the Portuguese giants, netting 41 times and providing 34 assists.

The nippy attacker was a vital cog in Sergio Conceicao’s team as Porto ended Benfica’s dominance by winning the league last term.

At Molineux, Brahimi would bring in a lot of pace and direct approach in the attacks. He possesses explosive pace and has the uncanny ability to split open opposition defences with one pass. The Algerian is creative, inventive and possesses good passing abilities to become a hit in the Premier League. He is also a goal-threat and would bring in a lot of dynamism and craftiness at Wolves.

The likes of Helder Costa, Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini played a massive role in helping Wolves lift the Championship title.

The addition of Brahimi would provide wonderful competition to the current Wolves’ attacking players, and his vast experience of competing at the highest level could prove to be priceless for Nuno and company.

With his exceptional technical ability, dribbling ability and raw pace, the Porto ace would add a certain level of potency and unpredictability to Wolves’ play in the final third.

It is time for Nuno to make a statement of intent ahead of next season, and signing Brahimi from Porto would go a long way in that regard.
