Wolverhampton are in a brilliant run of form in the Championship now and the high-flying leaders are understood to be interested in a January move for Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen. Although the Dutch club are not in the best shape at the moment, Jorgensen was a beacon of hope for them last season as he smashed 25 goals for Feyenoord in all competitions – which eventually helped them win the league title.
Everton have also been linked with the striker and while some may argue that joining the Toffees seems like the better option for Jorgensen, the fact remains that Wolves are in a far more exciting phase than Everton and are close to sealing a promotion to the Premier League.
If they manage to trump Everton and sign the £11.7m rated Jorgensen in January, it will be a massive statement of their intent in the days to come. The Wolves are playing incredible football under Nuno and have Premier League ambitions, making Jorgensen a solid addition to the club. Even though he has scored just 2 goals for Feyenoord this season, it must be noted that a lot of things are going wrong for the Dutch club.
Their title defence looks over already and their overall performances have been nothing short of disappointing. Jorgensen needs an exciting new environment to re-ignite his form and Wolverhampton seem to be the ideal destination. They are pushing for greater things and having a goal-scoring machine like Jorgensen leading the line does sound like an enticing prospect for the club.
As far as the Championship outfit are concerned, the Wolves top the table currently despite allowing proven goalscorer Nouha Dicko to leave over the summer. It did seem like a risk since the club failed to secure a worthy replacement but Nuno’s men have been incredible, to say the least. However, as the days go by, they need a replacement, as well as someone to give competition for Leo Bonatini.
Hence, Jorgensen seems like a logical choice for Wolverhampton. The Danish frontman is typically attack-oriented and is a force to be reckoned with inside the penalty area. He is adept at scoring goals while also bringing the best out of his teammates. In addition to scoring 25 goals last season, Jorgensen also provided 11 assists and was partly responsible for Feyenoord picking up their first title since 1999. Hence, considering the ambitious environment at Wolverhampton, signing Jorgensen is likely to be a step in the right direction.
