David Moyes has done a decent job in his short stint at the London Stadium, as he brought West Ham United out of the drop zone. However, they are nowhere close to being safe and need to find some consistency, to help themselves closer to the top half of the table. The manager has a decent squad at his disposal but wants to add players who fit in under his system, and there are a number of names that are being linked with a move to West Ham in January.

The transfer window will be the first chance for Moyes to bring his chequebook out but who should he spend on? Here are three players West Ham should definitely sign, to boost their chances of a higher finish in the league table.

William Carvalho (Sporting CP)

The Portuguese international was one of the top transfer targets for the London club in the summer transfer window but Sporting were not ready to let him leave yet. West Ham also had a bid rejected for him but it is now understood that the Portuguese outfit is ready to offload him to any club ready to meet his valuation and there is no reason why West Ham should not go back for him. He is an experienced, established star, who solves an impending problem at the club and could turn into a match winner in the years to come.

Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)

The English midfielder is reluctant to sign a new deal with Arsenal and though reports claim that Arsene Wenger is confident that he will extend his stay, there are a number of clubs interested in luring Wilshere out of the Emirates. At just 25, he has loads of potential and a chance to play regularly in the first team, in London, for West Ham, could be enough for Moyes to tempt the Arsenal man to the London Stadium. He may not be the star name that can sell a million shirts but he will surely have an impact on West Ham’s results for a long time.

Marouane Fellaini (Manchester United)

One player who Moyes should have no problem in signing is Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini. The Belgian international was a prolific goal scorer in his time at Everton under Moyes, who took him to Old Trafford when he was offered the Manchester United job. However, Fellaini has now turned into a versatile player, who can play as a CDM and also as a striker, when needed. He would fit into West Ham’s style of play really well and could be the solution to the problems they currently face on a regular basis.
