Go for it Karanka: Nottingham Forest completing this double signing could be magnificent for the squad

Why Nottingham Forest completing this double signing could be magnificent for the squad

Aitor Karanka’s revolution at Nottingham Forest continues. The Spaniard has already brought in five players this summer but he’s said to be interested in bringing in two more faces to the Riverside Stadium.

Reports in The Nottingham Post suggest Karanka wants to sign Cristhian Stuani from Spanish side Girona. The two worked together at Middlesbrough previously and the manager is keen to reunite with the striker.

Stuani scored 21 goals in 33 La Liga games last season. He finished fifth in the goalscoring rankings in the Spanish league and earned himself a place in Uruguay’s World Cup squad.

Stuani can be a great signing for Forest as he has the experience of playing in England. During his time at Middlesbrough, the Uruguay international scored 15 times in 68 games. He has previously played under Karanka, which will make his adaptation much easier. Stuani is a versatile player, who can be used both as a striker and as a winger.

One of Stuani’s biggest strengths is his amazing aerial ability. He’s just unstoppable in the air. The South American is also dangerous from set-pieces. He would be an excellent addition to a Nottingham Forest side, who are trying to build on their 17th place finish last season.

Another player Karanka is said to be interested in signing is Adam Clayton; he has worked with the player during his managerial spell at Middlesbrough. The Boro midfielder is a valuable part of Tony Pulis’ plans at the Riverside Stadium but if Forest manage to snatch him, it would be a massive coup for the club.

Clayton is a hard-working, tireless player, who would have no trouble fitting in Karanka’s 4-2-3-1 formation. Karanka already has Liam Bridcutt at his disposal but Clayton can form a fearsome partnership with him in midfield. Both are strong, physical players, who are not afraid to dive into a tackle.

Clayton has featured regularly for Middlesbrough since his arrival from Huddersfield in 2014. The 29-year-old made 37 appearances in all competitions last season.

Both Stuani and Clayton would be magnificent additions to the current Forest squad. If Karanka can secure their signatures, bright times should be expected at City Ground.
