Go for it Jose – Manchester United must take this £35million gamble to solve their right-wing problems

Manchester United have reportedly tabled a £35million bid for Benfica star Anderson Talisca. Talisca has blossomed while on loan at Turkish giants Besiktas, netting 20 goals and providing 8 assists this campaign.

The Brazilian has long been linked with a move to Manchester United. The Red Devils have struggled for creativity and flair in the final third this season, which saw them finish runners-up to cross-town rivals Manchester City. Mourinho’s men were also beaten by Chelsea in the FA Cup last Saturday.

After watching United get beaten at the hands of his former club in the FA Cup final, there is a clear need for Mourinho to bolster his attacking options which looked toothless in the absence of Romelu Lukaku. The Portuguese needs to bring in a creative midfielder capable of creating and scoring goals at a constant rate.

Well, Talisca fits the bill perfectly at United. Talisca earlier claimed the Red Devils are interested in him and admitted he would relish playing under Mourinho.

The 24-year-old is a talented player and has enjoyed two stellar years on loan at Besiktas from Benfica, creating and scoring a truckload of goals.

Capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or on either of the flanks, Talisca knows how to find open space and get into dangerous areas around the goal. He has time and again shown he can create opportunities for his teammates with his clever and precise passing.

A sweet left-foot to boast of, Talisca is a set-piece specialist with his finishing and shooting skills often being the talk of the town. He has a tall figure and knows how to use it to good effect. With exquisite dribbling skills and raw pace to burn, the Brazilian could solve United’s search for a right-winger.

The Red Devils boast the likes of Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanchez who can all play in that position. But barring Lingard, none of them is effective on the right-wing. While Mata has been deployed on the right on a number of occasions by Mourinho, the Spaniard is primarily a playmaker and lacks the pace to play on the flanks.

Talisca has all the ingredients to play for United on the right-hand side of the attack – pace, power, physicality and clinical finishing are his attributes. However, given the doubts over his ability to perform at the highest level, let alone consistently, signing the Brazilian would be a huge gamble for Mourinho.

However, going by his talent and sky-high potential, Mourinho must take the gamble by signing Talisca in the summer transfer window.
