Three Serie A Players Chelsea Should Look To Sign In January

Antonio Conte managed to lift the Premier League title in his first-year in charge in England and has also made a solid start to the current campaign in England and also in Europe. The likes of Marcos Alonso, Tiemoue Bakayoko and even Alvaro Morata have all come to the Bridge under the Italian manager, who is still looking to add players to his squad for this season.

He failed to land a few of his top transfer targets recently so Conte is expected to move for them in the January transfer window. Having worked in Serie A, Conte will look to play safe and sign players from the Italian league and here are three such players who could make their way to London after the turn of the year.

Kwadwo Asamoah (Juventus)

Currently one of the most versatile players in Europe, Asamoah has not been able to break into the first team at Turin for more than a year now but is an important squad player for Juventus. At 28, he is highly experienced at club and international level and is a player who many teams would love to have. He can play as a wing-back or as a midfielder, where he can use his pace to good effect. A utility player like him is exactly what Chelsea need in January.

Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus)

The experienced centre-back is out of contract at the end of the current season and though Juventus will look to offer him a new deal, Antonio Conte can step in and lure him to the Bridge, offering Juve decent money for a player who might leave for free a few months later. At 33, he is not a long-term option but if Chelsea can land him, they will instantly improve their defence and will help smoothen their ride in the second half of the campaign.

Faouzi Ghoulam (Napoli)

Though it is not an immediate necessity, Chelsea would love to have a natural backup for Marcos Alonso on the left flank and the ever-energetic Ghoulam could be a decent option. The 26-year-old Algerian is out of a contract at the end of the season and Napoli might be compelled to sell. So all Chelsea have to do is make Napoli an offer they cannot refuse. At his age, he is a long-term option for Chelsea and could solve their left-back problems for years to come.
