Go for it Christiansen – Leeds United signing this 27-year-old attacker is a risk worth taking

Why Aleksandar Prijovic Could Be A Good Signing To Beef Up The Leeds United Attack

Leeds United currently sit nin9th in the Championship but only 5 points away from Fulham in 6th. The race for the playoffs this year will be very close and it may come down to goal difference.

This would be a worrying thought for Thomas Christiansen’s side who have not been particularly prolific in front of goal. Top scorer Pierre-Michael Lassoga is woefully inconsistent, turning from Didier Drogba to Bambi on ice in the same game, the move for former Derby County youth player Aleksandar Prijovic may serve to beef up the Yorkshire sides attack and get them firmly into the playoff positions.

Prijovic is not a prolific goalscorer, in fact, it is hard to find many of those types of players in January, however, he is a confident and dangerous forward, who at the age of 27 would be ready to go straight into the Leeds United lineup.

It appears that Thomas Christiansen is not too happy with the way his team are playing at the moment, the last minute 4-3 defeat to Millwall at Elland Road was particularly galling. So bringing a player like Prijovic would put pressure on his starting forward players and force them to step it up a level.

Anyone who has watched the attacking fair that has been on show at Elland Road this season will tell you that the performances, as well as the results, have been mixed.

At a point in September, they were top of the league, but they seemed to let those performances go to their heads and plummeted down the table. A few of the forward players look like they are having to force the issue at the moment, and bringing in someone who could improve their style of play and put other teams under pressure can only be a good thing.

Prijovic has been a key part of a PAOK side that is on an excellent run of form, just one point behind Olympiacos in the table.

Perhaps Prijovic will have to consider whether he would be willing to move from a side that regularly beats every team in front of them to one that is scrapping to finish mid-table. As well as that, he would also not be guaranteed a place and would be under a lot of pressure to really hit the ground running. It would be a big risk for Leeds United but one they may well have to take.
