Go for it Bielsa – Leeds United sign this £15m Premier League winger in January

Why should Leeds United sign Jordon Ibe in January

After making a promising start to the season, Leeds United have been brought back to the reality of Championship. After all, it is not easy to win games at a canter here.

In 16 matches gone by, Leeds have won 8 and drawn 6, losing 2 in the process. Although they are at the top of the table, it is crystal clear that certain areas of the squad require improvements.

For example, Ezgjan Alioski has struggled to harness an impact playing at left-wing this season. Despite that, manager Marcelo Bielsa continues handing him starts because he doesn’t have any quality alternative.

Similarly, when Pablo Hernandez got injured, the right-wing position was exposed due to lack of cutting edge. Jack Harrison played there in the absence of the Spaniard but it was evident that the youngster wasn’t able to influence games positively.

Furthermore, the way Bielsa plays his football is high on intensity and work-rate. Hence, squad rotation will be a key part of a 46-game season. The Whites need another winger in January to balance out the workload and pressurize the non-performers.

Here’s why Jordon Ibe could be the solution to this problem for the Peacocks:

Ibe could be a game-changer

Jordon Ibe has struggled to breakthrough the Bournemouth XI on a regular basis in this campaign. He has played all the EFL Cup ties but appeared only thrice from the bench in the league. Not something a player, who was bought from Liverpool in 2016 for £15m, would have expected two years down the line.

The 22-year-old is a quality player who lacks consistency, however, he hasn’t received many opportunities to showcase his talent at the Vitality stadium. He can be a useful asset when used as an impact player to either change the game or just freshen up things in the reason.

Leeds United would do with someone like the ex-Liverpool man to add a bit of X-factor to their squad. From the player’s point of view, he should look for a move out as he isn’t getting much change warming the bench at Bournemouth.

The youngster could help the Peacocks make a stern push at Premier League promotion. If he does that, in any case, he would return to top-flight football next season.

Therefore, Leeds should keep close tabs on the development of the player and get him in January.
