Why This French Sensation Would Be A Better Option For Manchester United Than Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Share

Manchester United seem set to finalise a deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker’s contract ran out at PSG this season and it seems that the Ligue 1 winner is going to play for the Red of Manchester and hopefully lead them a Premier League title next season.

There is just one big issue with all this, Zlatan seems to be a bit of a short term signing, especially with him being 34-years-old, there is no guarantee how long he will play in England or how good he could be, given the physical nature of the league and also the lack of speed that Zlatan has.

Jose Mourinho might remember the good old Inter days with Zlatan, but normally the Portuguese does not let emotions clout his judgment and we feel this deal could just be one to please the Manchester United fans by getting a larger than life character.

The Premier League club do not need another big striker or even a bigger ego than Mourinho at the club. The last thing that the Old Trafford side would want is more news stories coming out about the antics of Zlatan compared to the football results that are more important for a side that is to miss out on the Champions League next season as well.

What they need is someone who can give them a lot more on the pitch and also give them a future by solidifying their position in the team, Zlatan might leave in a couple of years and then it is back to square one for the side, what United need is a young upstart and that player could well be Antoine Griezmann.

The French footballer is one of the best players in the world currently and after spending a number of years in Spain, he might want to try his luck out in another top league. Manchester United might not have the lure of Champions League football at the moment but Griezmann could be tempted by playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world and under one of the best managers in Jose Mourinho.

The 25-year-old scored 32 goals for Atletico Madrid last season, but more important than that is what he brings to the team. He can play in a number of positions and would also solve Manchester United’s striker problems or even winger problems for a number of years.

A trio of Griezmann, Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay would be incredible for Manchester United. Add to that, the likes of Marcus Rashford and Wayne Rooney under Jose Mourinho and you would have an incredible line-up for the present and future as well.

Griezmann though is a committed individual and bringing him from Spain would not be an easy task but with Ed Woodward on his side, Mourinho should go out and sign the diminutive Frenchman and at least solve the problem with the attack at Manchester United.
