Two Josh Windass Replacements Who Rangers Can Target If He Leaves For Leeds

Leeds United have been very busy in the transfer market this month, as have Scottish giants Rangers and now both clubs could be doing business together. According to reports this week, the West Yorkshire side are showing an interest in signing Josh Windass from Rangers and it has caused a stir in both camps.

Josh, of course, is the son of Bradford City and Hull legend Dean Windass and so his presence may not be entirely welcomed by everyone at Elland Road.

Add to this the fact that Rangers fans may not want to lose a player who has really come into his own this season and the deal doesn’t look exactly certain. That being said, stranger things have happened, though if he does leave, Graeme Murty will no doubt need to replace him in order to keep this momentum going, as Rangers attempt to close the gap on Celtic.

Jamie Murphy has already signed on the dotted line but with no Windass in the squad, one of these two may yet prove to be the answer:

Sammy Ameobi (Bolton Wanderers)

The winger/forward has thrived in tough circumstances at Bolton this season. The former Newcastle man has also hit 3 goals in 16 starts for Bolton in the league – this for a side struggling badly to score goals and stay in the division.

Ameobi, although sometimes criticised, certainly did a job for Newcastle United at Premier League level and has the sort of ability which would make him stand apart in Scottish football. He would turn out to be a very shrewd signing indeed.

Jarrod Bowen (Hull City)

Bowen has been the one and only true chink of light for Hull during what has been a miserable comedown season, having been in the Premier League last year. He’s a local boy and would not take the decision to leave Hull lightly. However, they are on the slide and will possibly end up in League One next season, with or without him.

His club also needs money. So should Rangers have the cash to tempt them with an offer, they would be getting a supreme talent and one that will only continue to improve season after season if nurtured carefully. He could be quite an investment.
