Forget Vidic And Evra, Manchester United Should Sign Any Of These Four Defender This Summer

Share

As Manchester United look to scout replacements for Nemanja Vidic and possibly Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra, United’s back four looks to undergo a major reshuffle. So we here at Soccersouls provide you four defenders for The Red Devils in the coming summer Transfer Window

Luke Shaw:

If major tabloids are to be believed, then United’s left back Patrice Evra has triggered a clause is his contract which will earn him an extension for the Red Devils. However given his lackluster displays in the left back slot, David Moyes is seriously considering Southampton’s young and bright Luke Shaw. The eighteen year old Saints left back has been the cynosure of Mauricio Pochettino’s sublime team this campaign and looks to garner interest from all the big clubs across England. Shaw is a boy hood Chelsea fan,but the right cash for him splurged by David Moyes should see the vibrant and energetic full back signing on the dotted lines at Old Trafford.

Even if the French International Evra does stay at Old Trafford next season, it shouldn’t stop Moyes to go all out for the next best thing at the left-back position. The Southampton prodigy has got all it takes to play in the highest level.

Eliaquim Mangala:

When was the last time Manchester United have had a defender of stone aged human calibre, who would frighten away opponents by his mere presence? Don’t search for answers, David Moyes, the reason is front of you is Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala. The man mountain Frenchman is an immaculate defender, a brilliant reader of the game and has superb vision when on the ball.  Mangala will certainly not come cheap, given Porto’s willingness to increase their player’s stock before they sell, but David Moyes needs to realize the 6’2 defender is worth any fiscal ramification. Mangala could be a perfect replacement of Vidic/Ferdinand.

Ezequiel Garay:

United have been linked with a move for Benfica’s Ezequiel Garay for the last couple of years but have never been able to table a deal for the Argentine international. As no substantial bids have been placed for the 27-year-old, who failed to make the grade at Real Madrid, Garay is one of the mainstays at the heart of the defence for Benfica. He has a vibrant work rate, with immaculate positioning skills and a no nonsense approach. Garay is equally adept at covering his fellow defenders and manning the last line of defence, something which David Moyes’ team has been lacking in their faltering season.

Domenico Criscito:

Criscito has previously played in Serie A with Genoa and Juventus in the past, but the current Zenit St. Petersburg left-back has been struggling in the chilly Russian league, as various English clubs are keeping a tab on him to offer him an escape route. His poise on the ball coupled with immaculate strength and holding skills looks to be an efficient solution if the Red Devils on the left side of the defence. United are looking forward to someone who is equally adept at barging forward at will, providing crosses from the left and being proactive throughout the entire course of ninety minutes. This has been something that has been missing with Patrice Evra off late and the current Zenit St’ Petersburg’s defender Criscito provides an effective solution.

If United miss out on Luke Shaw for obvious reasons, Criscito is definitely the right option for Moyes.
