Forget Sturridge – Liverpool Should Look To Sign Any Of These Three Star Strikers

Share

Daniel Sturridge is Liverpool’s main man up front and is one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League. The 26-year-old English striker joined Liverpool three years ago from Chelsea and has missed 81 matches for Liverpool owing to injuries. Sturridge missed more than half of the previous season for Liverpool and made only 26 appearances for Liverpool last season and ended up becoming the highest goal scorer for Liverpool with 13 goals. This shows why he is so vital for Liverpool. If Sturridge can improve the fitness aspect of his game, he can become one of the deadliest strikers in the world. Sturridge’s future at Liverpool is uncertain with reports suggesting that he could be moving out of the Premier League. If that happens, Liverpool will have to look for an ideal replacement.

Here are 3 strikers that can replace Sturridge at Liverpool.

1.) Saido Berahino

Due to injuries, Sturridge missed more matches for Liverpool than he has played. So, Liverpool might not get more than 20 million euros for the injury prone. Berahino is almost an ideal replacement for Sturridge, although he lacks Sturridge’s experience at the big stage. Berahino has shown at West Bromwich Albion why he is so highly rated, whilst his pace, ability to score off both the feet and direct style would suit Klopp’s style of play. With inconsistent starts in the second half of the previous season, his value is expected to remain around the 20 million mark making him a very viable option for Klopp.

2.) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Any acquisition that Liverpool makes this summer must fit in perfectly with Klopp’s style of play or else we will witness another struggle similar to that of Christian Benteke. Aubameyang is quick, direct, athletic and having played under Klopp before, he perfectly fits Liverpool’s requirements. The 26-year-old has scored 39 goals and provided 12 assists in his 49 appearances for Dortmund last season, making him one of the best strikers in Europe. Luring him away from Champions League football would be difficult, but he has all the qualities to excel at Anfield alongside creators such as Coutinho and Firmino.

3.) Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain has been linked with a move to the Premier League on couple of occasions over the years- most recently in the summer of 2013 when he was linked with a move to Arsenal. The striker would have little trouble in adjusting to life in England’s top league. Higuain has scored 68 goals in 120 matches for Napoli since he joined two and a half years ago. The 28-year-old is a bit different from Sturridge but has a happy knack of scoring goals. He will not get Champions League football next season at Liverpool but if Klopp can bring him to Anfield, he will be a very good replacement for Sturridge.
