Forget Signings – Here Are 3 Players Arsenal Should Loan Out Apart From Joel Campbell

Share

Arsenal are facing a tricky start to the season after gaining just one point out of the possible six that they could have had. Opening weeks defeat to Liverpool was followed by a draw against Leicester City last weekend. Wenger is under severe pressure to bring in 2-3 quality players before the transfer window slams shut. There is a need for a world class striker who can take the goal scoring burden off Giroud’s shoulders. But the recent injury to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista has made the signing of  a centre-back very important. In all this, Wenger has sent Joel Campbell off to Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan. The Costa Rican did well last season but was far too often overlooked by Wenger.

This season could be very crucial to Wenger’s future at Arsenal. Already some of the fan base had turned against him last season, which is why a failure to land the Premier League trophy could spell the end of his reign. However, there are some youngsters and squad players, who are being wasted on the bench, therefore need to be sent on loan to gain much-needed experience and game time. Here are the 3 players who could be sent out on loan by Arsene Wenger.

Mattieu Debuchy

The French left-back has had a torrid time since moving from Newcaslte. He moved to Arsenal in the summer of 2014 but has struggled with injuries and bad form. His place in the team is currently blocked by Hector Bellerin. He was sent out on loan to Bordeaux last season but again this summer, his place in the team is being questioned. Wenger might be tempted to send the French international out on loan again, even if there is a dearth of experienced defenders in the squad.

Serge Gnabry

The young German was part of the German national team which won a silver medal at the recently concluded Rio Olympics. He has been excellent in the limited opportunities he has got in the first team but has failed to cement his place in the starting XI on a consistent basis. He was sent out on loan last year to West Bromwich Albion but in January, he was recalled from his loan after lacking first-team action at West Bromwich. With the squad full of world class midfielders, it is unlikely that he will see much action this season, therefore a loan spell will not be bad.

Chuba Akpom

The English youngster has struggled to make a place for himself in the Arsenal first team. His loan spell last season with Hull City was pretty successful but to challenge for a starting place at Arsenal, he might need another loan spell in the Championship. He is highly rated therefore  a permanent willnot make sense for him right now for Wenger.
