Forget selling Kane: Why holding on to Christian Eriksen could be the best for Tottenham

According to the Express, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to make a sensational summer swoop for Tottenham star Christian Eriksen. The French giants are said to be preparing a £100million offer for the Dane, and that could turn his head.

Eriksen has established himself as a crucial player for Spurs for five years now and has forged a formidable partnership with Harry Kane and Dele Alli. He is the heartbeat of the Spurs side, making them look sharper and sleeker in attack with his creativity and invention.

Eriksen, along with the likes of Son, Alli and Kane, has played a huge role in Tottenham’s strong performances this season. Having already scored 14 goals and assisted a further 10, the playmaker is firmly on track to having his most prolific season as a Spurs player.

Calm and composed on the ball, the Dane is the perfect player for Mauricio Pochettino’s style of play. Eriksen’s consistent displays have made him the lynchpin of Spurs’ attack. Whether he starts out wide or behind the main striker, the playmaker has come up with the goods on a consistent basis and remains a highly underrated player across Europe.

What makes Eriksen such a wonderful player is his ability to deliver week in and week out without hogging any limelight. While Kane and Alli understandably create headlines, Eriksen silently does his job and continues producing what he is best known for.

Since joining Spurs from Ajax, Eriksen has become one of the most dangerous players in English football. Give him time and space and he will punish you severely. That has been all about Eriksen, who has mastered the art of finding room to become Tottenham’s conductor in attacks.

PSG’s reported opening bid of £100million to lure Eriksen away from Premier League would tempt Tottenham in considering the offer. £100 million is a massive transfer fee and that could turn the heads of Chairman Daniel Levy who signed the player for £11.5m back in 2013.

Pochettino could use the money towards strengthening different areas of the pitch. With the funds from Eriksen’s sale, the Argentine possibly can improve his midfield options and bring a reliable back-up to Kane at the end of the season.

But in an ideal world, Tottenham must keep hold of their star playmaker. It is his presence on the pitch that makes Spurs tick in the attack. He rarely seems flattened or flustered and continues to excel.

The Dane unquestionably has everything in his locker and Spurs, despite PSG’s tantalizing offer, must keep hold of one of their important players beyond this summer.
