Forget PSG, Why Manchester United Is The Perfect Destination For The Most Sort Out Man In Europe

Share

The rumours are out again but this time, it isn’t about the next big player moving to another big club but it is about one of the best managers to ever take part in the game, Jose Mourinho. Yes, Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea this season after he somehow blew everything up at the club but he still can do a good job in the short term.

The Portuguese has won a league title in every country he has managed and it is now being stated that the 53-year-old could be a target for PSG in Ligue 1. Laurent Blanc might be tempted to move elsewhere after winning everything in France and this could leave the door open for Mourinho.

Jose has won titles in Portugal, England, Italy, Spain and France would just be the icing on the cake but there is also interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils have had another disappointing season under Louis van Gaal and it is also rumoured that the Dutch manager will leave the club at the end of the season.

Van Gaal though has refuted claims that his head is on the chopping block and is willing to see out the last year on his contract. This does put Mourinho in a bit of a pickle as to which club to take on, the finished article of PSG or the mouldable Manchester United.

From Paris with love

Paris Saint-Germain won yet another French league title, this too in record time this season and more or less have the best squad in France. The addition of Angel Di Maria certainly has helped the side and even though Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be leaving at the end of the season, PSG have the financial muscle to bring in anyone they like.

The French side might lose out on the services of Laurent Blanc and Mourinho could well pick up the slack at the club. He has a ready-made product and only needs to add a bit of spice here and there to get them to another Ligue 1 title.

The big question would be European glory for PSG, this time, they went out to Manchester City in the quarter-final stage this season but the club craves for success in the biggest European club competition. Mourinho is the man who can win the league and well he can do it in Europe as well.

PSG though would end up bringing in a tough manager who makes more headlines that probably all other 19 Ligue 1 clubs combined. That is a risk, worth taking in the short term as it leads to success. Mourinho would have three seasons to win the UEFA Champions League.

On the other side, we have Manchester United, a side that is a shadow of their former might and needs someone to bring back the glory days. The issue with United is that they have no identity and even under Louis van Gaal, they don’t really know what to do or how to play.

That problem would be solved under Mourinho as we all know what brand of football he brings to the club but would the United supporters be willing to accept this? Time and again, they have wanted glorious attacking football and well this isn’t something which is guaranteed under Mourinho.

One thing that Manchester United fans would be guaranteed though is trophies, Mourinho would make the Manchester club tough to beat and it would only be a matter of time before they do pick some silverware. Mourinho also would be allowed to invest in players, who would put their lives on the line for him, or at least for the first three seasons.

The Portuguese manager has a tough decision to make while winning Ligue 1 is easy with PSG, he would be judged on what he achieves in Europe. While for Manchester United, he would have to rebuild the club from the ground up.

Taking a project as mammoth as Manchester United is something he has done in his career like he did for Chelsea and with the backing of the board, he could well become another Sir Alex Ferguson, in terms of trophies won. Manchester should be the home for Mourinho, at least we hope so.
