Forget Mourinhwo – Why Manchester United Must Look Into These 3 Realistic Alternatives

Share

The madness with Manchester United continues with the club having drawn against Leicester City. United should have won the game when Danny Drinkwater was sent off for two bookable offenses, but they will have to do with a point.

The Manchester side could rue the opportunity to get all three points as they still are behind Manchester City in the chase for a Champions League place and with just three games left for United and two for City.

Four points between the rivals would be a steep climb for Louis van Gaal but at least he keeps providing a bunch of fun quotes, not to forget his latest one about some weird fantasies. Nevertheless, the Dutch manager could be the one who loses his job if United do not get into the Champions League and Jose Mourinho is being rumored to take up the job.

The Portuguese might be without a job at the moment, but there are a few who could do a better job than him and we list out the three managers who could be given the United job instead of Mourinho.

Diego Simeone

Cholo is the man of the moment, not only is he is achieving great success, he seems to be doing it at a fraction of the budget that Real Madrid and Barcelona have. His team is battling it out for the Spanish league title with Barcelona and are in the Champions League semis once again.

Simeone does play a rather aggressive brand of football which isn’t completely attack based. This would be a good thing for most clubs but not for Manchester United fans, but he will guarantee success with a little less drama than Jose Mourinho and he knows how to spend money, so think who he could signify he does move to United.

Marcelo Bielsa

This choice might be a bit of a tough one to defend, but Marcelo Bielsa is mad enough to take over the madness that has been Louis van Gaal. He might not be the most stable person out there, but he can get his team to play well and that could only mean good things for the side.

Bielsa last coached Marseille and it looked to be going well until he fell out with the board. His tactics might be extreme, but they get the results and he could well be the person who wakes Manchester United players from their boring style and brings back an attacking sense of play to the team. Surely the fans will love this signing.

Laurent Blanc

Someone who knows the Premier League extremely well having played for Manchester United, Laurent Blanc moving to Old Trafford does make sense. The Frenchman knows the club really well and even played under Sir Alex Ferguson, so he would know what kind of football is required at the club.

He may not be a Jose Mourinho but he certainly is successful, having won multiple titles with PSG. He led them to another Ligue 1 title, this time setting a record and he might want to try his hand out in a tougher league. The Premier League is as tough as it gets but the Frenchman does have the quality to succeed.
