Forget Morata – Why Arsenal Should Go For This Brilliant Dutch Striker

Share

Premier League giants Arsenal have been chasing a striker from last summer and Arsene Wenger’s attempts to sign one have failed so far. Though some big names have been linked with a move to the Emirates in the past and recently as well, no such move has materialized so far. There are still doubts in the minds of the fans, whether or not the French manager will eventually sign a striker in the current transfer window.

Olivier Giroud’s goal drought, combined with Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck’s inability to impress when needed cost the Gunners the Premier League title, last season. This would be something that Wenger would not want to happen in the future and he must look to reinforce the squad with more attacking options sooner rather than later with some high quality players now.

There are many players on his wish-list as always, though no big offers have been made so far. One option that the manager has, is signing AZ Alkmaar’s Vincent Janssen, who is a very different player than any of the others being linked with the London based club. The Dutch international is just 21 and currently plays for the Eredivisie club, where he has been quite impressive and has caught the attention of a host of top European sides.

The young attacker prefers his left foot and has immense power and great shooting ability, which reminds me of Robin van Persie. His right foot is also not too bad and he has managed 27 goals to his name in 34 matches for John van den Brom’s side, this term.

Further, he looks quite good on the ball and has the skill to trouble any defence, if he is given the proper care and training. Further, reports suggest that he could cost the French manager around £20m, which he should be able to easily afford.

The young player is quite a good finisher and after Real Madrid demanded  £38m for Alvaro Morata from Arsenal, he could be Wenger’s choice to bring to the Emirates, prior to the start of the new campaign. Janssen has made 10 appearances for the Netherlands U-21 side, scoring eight times and a couple of appearances for the first team, scoring once.

He is a renowned goalscoring machine and in way better form than a player like Morata, who has not been at his very best in recent seasons. Surely, signing the youngster would be a risk, but he can achieve what Anthony Martial did with Manchester United and could be a huge star for the future.

Wenger should surely consider adding him to his squad prior to the Euro 2016 tournament, so that he gets as much experience with the team as possible, before he can start playing at the top level of English football.
