Forget it Solskjaer – Man United would better off without signing this Croatian World Cup ace and here is why

Ivan Perisic signing does not add anything to the Manchester United attack

Manchester United have been reborn under the leadership of new interim coach and legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He has successfully revived the quality in the United attack which has resulted in them going on a 4-game win streak in the Premier League. They have also been able to overcome the FA Cup 3^rd round tie against Reading at Old Trafford winning by a 2-0 scoreline.

Under Jose, all of United’s attacking players consistently looked extremely uninspired and showed a certain lack of motivation and professionalism. It was as if the players just didn’t want to produce good football for the manager anymore.

With Jose’s resignation, players like Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and most importantly Alexis Sanchez have all been performing up to their usual standards and Solskjaer will be hoping that United can continue in this fashion so that they can fight for a place in the top 4 to attain automatic qualification to the Champions League.

While United have been considering the purchase of Nicolo Barella from Italian outifit Cagliari according to reports from The Mirror, their transfer priority this term has been a centre-half with the likes of Kalidou Koulibali, Nikola Milenkovic and Milan Skriniar all linked as per reports from The Express.

Another report from The Mirror has emerged which claims that United are preparing a bid Inter Milan left winger Ivan Perisic. The Croatian star who started all of the games for his country at the recent FIFA World Cup has been under United’s radar for a very long time and while this could finally be the year when they get their man, it would be unwise to sign the winger in the current situation.

With Solskajer having such a huge wealth of talented players who could easily slip into the left flank at United, the signing of Perisic seems overly extravagant. Sanchez, Martial, Mata and Rashford can all play perfectly well in that position which means that the 29-year-old will mostly be underused at Old Trafford.

With Pogba’s meteoric rise back to form, he has made the central attacking midfield role his own. While all the attacking players have looked more committed to this United side over the last few weeks, it is in defence that United still have an issue.

Instead of pushing a move for Perisic who is set to turn 30 in less than a month, Solskjaer and the United chiefs must look to strengthen in more important areas of the pitch.
