Celtic FC opinion: Should the Hoops sell Olivier Ntcham?

According to a report from the Examiner Live, Ligue 1 side Marseille are interested in signing Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham in the summer.

Newly appointed boss Andre Villas-Boas has made the Frenchman one of his first targets in the summer according to the report and a chance to return to his home country could be a tempting one.

Ntcham missed a good chunk of the season due to injuries and only managed 14 starts in the league. The Frenchman showed real promise in his debut campaign after joining from Manchester City but injuries and inconsistent performances have been a major cause for concern.

The Frenchman is under contract with the Hoops till the summer of 2022 and irrespective of the kind of offer that comes in from the Ligue 1 giants in the summer, Celtic should not even consider selling him.

Hoops are on their way to make history next season where if they win the league title, they will level their historic record of nine successive league wins.

This will be a real achievement for Hoops and would give their fans more bragging rights than they could ever imagine against arch-rivals Rangers.

Steven Gerrard’s side are certainly on the rise after having beaten Celtic two times already in the league this season. Celtic will need to do all they can in the summer window to widen the gap next season and the best way to start Neil Lennon’s era would be by keeping hold of their best players.

Olivier Ntcham, despite a fairly underwhelming last two seasons with the club, is a player with humungous potential and with the right freedom in the centre of the park, he has all the abilities to dominate games next season.

His powerful runs through the midfield and into the box are incredibly hard to stop and this combined with his quality on the ball makes him a top player. Ntcham also possesses a brilliant right foot with which he is a threat even from a long way out.

The 23-year-old is also sound defensively and his ability to retrieve balls is a massive asset to have in a side. Ntcham’s tackling is quite astute and his ability to quickly move the ball forward after winning it back makes him a must-have for Celtic next season.

Conclusion

Losing Olivier Ntcham would be a huge blow for Celtic next season and it is a thought that they shouldn’t even consider.

The Frenchman has the qualities to be a real leader in the coming years and Neil Lennon should look to build the team around him in the coming years.
