Forget Gueye – Everton can get the perfect replacement for the PSG target by signing this midfield colossus

Roberto Gagliardini could be the ideal replacement for Idrissa Gueye

According to reports from Liverpool Echo, Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini is interesting Everton boss Marco Silva, who could move for the player before the January window ends.

Everton’s season so far can be best described as inconsistent as they’ve struggled to get a good run of results going mainly because they terribly lack a recognised striker up front.

While Richarlison has been doing the job to a certain extent, his best position is most definitely on the wing, where he can use his creativity to beat defenders and create spaces. He is having to chase the ball because of his current role, which seems like an utter waste of his quite commendable skill-set.

Another player who has been exceptional for the Toffees is midfielder Idrissa Gueye, who is key to the speed with which Everton can turn defence into attack. He is also a destroyer in the midfield, who cuts out passing lanes and makes an unbelievable number of interceptions for Marco Silva’s side.

He has been brilliant since joining from Aston Villa in 2016. He grew as a player during his time at Lille and was scouted and picked up by the Villans in the summer of 2015. He has been a key part of Silva’s plans right from the start of the season and the work that he does in the middle of the park is so valuable.

He is an exceptional midfielder who is attracting interest from one of Europe’s elite clubs. According to the Express, PSG are keen on signing the Senegalese international and have even been quoted a price by the Everton chiefs.

His departure will leave a gaping hole in the middle of the park and will force Silva to play his hand in the transfer market.

Hence, Everton’s move for Inter Milan midfield general Roberto Gagliardini comes as no surprise. He has the right attributes to slot into the midfield role and excel at his job of linking up the play and thwarting the opposition attacks.

He is a very tall, physical player who rarely misses out on aerial duels. He has a monstrous leap which helps him head the ball utmost ease. He is brilliant at linking up with some quick passing and ability to open up spaces. He is also a decent dribbler who loves to go on searching forays from his defensive role.

While Gueye is a key part of the team and will not easily be let go off by Everton, when a club of PSG’s magnitude comes calling, it’s really hard to decline.

In case it was to happen, Gagliardini would be the right person to replace him in the team because of his ability to impact the game at both ends.
