Forget Everton Soares – Here’s why Arsenal would be better off signing this La Liga right-wing wizard instead

Who should Arsenal pick – Malcom or Everton

Arsenal are desperately in need of a winger, with Alex Iwobi being the only recognized first-team player who can play on the wings. Iwobi is still very young and is an Arsenal academy graduate. He has shown enough in his time to stake a claim to play for the club but lacks enough quality.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang have also been used on the flanks for a few games due to injury concerns or for specific tactical battles but they’re all far more comfortable in central positions.

Arsenal have to stop compromising on players and start looking for players who are suited to particular positions.

One target, as reported by Sky Sports, is Wilfried Zaha but the Ivorian international, who was at the African Cup nations this whole time, is valued too highly and the Gunners are unlikely to be able to afford his services even if they were to make a lot of sales in the transfer market.

Hence, Arsenal have had to look at other options and two names that have come up in recent weeks are Brazilian duo, Malcom and Everton.

Let’s have a look at who’d be a better fit at the Emirates:

Malcom

Malcom joined Barcelona last summer after a great reputation in the Ligue 1 with Bordeaux. He’s a right-winger who likes to cut inside onto his left foot and look to create chances for teammates and score goals.

He didn’t get the playing time under Ernesto Valverde and will be hungry to play more games and Arsenal would be a fantastic club to continue his development. He would almost certainly be a starter with no other player in Arsenal out there currently, who could play on the right-wing.

Everton

Everton Soares lit up the Copa America this summer with some great performances on the left-wing and he also enjoys cutting in and looking for shots or creating chances.

Everton’s other great asset is his confidence besides his natural ability. He’s 23-years old and will be hoping he can go to Europe this summer as he is currently a player for Brazilian side Gremio.

Verdict

Due to the right-wing being an even bigger concern, it would be better if the Gunners signed Malcom ahead of Everton.
