Forget Enrique – This Max Allegri Is The Right Man To Succeed Wenger At Arsenal

Wel,l an era has come to an end at Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger announcing his exit from the club. This has come as a shock for a few supporters but for the most section, it was something they were probably expecting. The proposition from Wenger that the timing of his departure wasn’t decided by him, explains to us that the board was clearly involved.

Now, the change is upon us at the Emirates and who will replace this 22-year legacy is a huge question to be answered. A strong suggestion is that they are looking to hire either of Massimiliano Allegri or Luis Enrique as their next manager.

Massimiliano Allegri

The current Juventus manager, as we all know, is a tactical genius. His attention to details is of the highest order when it comes to bringing the best out of a particular group of players. The Italian is at his best when his team is touted as the underdogs. Allegri is one of those managers who will be calm but very savvy in his approach.

From heroic tactical performances at Barcelona (2016-17), Real Madrid (2014-15) in the Champions League to winning Scudettos in Italy are some of his highlights. His tactical switch at Wembley against Spurs was a masterclass at the time, in a tense situation.

Even though the model of football that Allegri preaches is a bit anti-climactic to the one that Arsenal fans have been used to, the results will massively improve for the club. There is one thing which is assured under the Italian and it is the improvement of the defence which would make the Gunners a hard team to beat.

It is a given that he will look to make signings which would suit his style of play. Even though there might be a mismatch between the manager and board in this matter, he is not the one who would moan about it for the rest of the season.

Luis Enrique

We all know about Luis Enrique, who is a Barcelona product through and through. His footballing philosophy also mirrors the background he hails from. He has led Barcelona to a Champions League success along with La Liga with a style of football that Arsenal would love to instill.

The one glitch is that the Spaniard would want a heavy chunk to be spent in the transfer market before he starts. The Arsenal board are not known for their spending power and this could mean Enrique not being satisfied with the quality of squad at his disposal.

The main reason as to why the Spaniard would want quality all over the pitch is because the risky football that he plays. High possession with a high line and high press are some of the trades Enrique would bring to London. This denotes that quality is needed to implement this style, especially in the defence and the midfield. Arsenal are clearly short on quality in those areas.

Even though both managers are of high wages and would not be comforting players in their zones, Allegri seems like the one who will bring results in a transition period. He looks more of a manager who can bring the best of any tight situation whereas Enrique is someone who will thrive on quality spending and then implement the flair style.
