Arsenal and Barcelona are both reportedly interested in a move to land AC Milan hitman Andre Silva. As is the case with most prolific young strikers, Silva catapulted to fame after his splendid run of form for Milan. In fact, he only joined Milan during the summer, from Porto. He has already scored 6 times in the Europa League, and there seems to be no force that can stop the youngster from getting his name on the scoresheet.
However, things aren’t exactly in the best of shape for the Italian club right now. Despite spending a significant amount of money in the transfer window, Milan have failed to have an impact in the Serie-A. They already look set to miss out on a Champions League finish. Also, the failure to notch up victories is likely to put the club in heavy debt especially after a summer of heavy spending which has yielded no results.
Thus, Milan could soon be forced to sell some of their biggest stars as a consequence. It certainly won’t be tough to find suitors for Silva, but with both Arsenal and Barcelona in the fray, which club would be ideal for the young goal-scoring machine?
The saga surrounding Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez refuses to die down. With the winter window coming up, fresh rumours are rife that the contract rebel could secure a move in January. Already, the Gunners are struggling with their attack and if Sanchez really does leave, the pressure on Arsene Wenger will only intensify.
Thus, Silva could prove to be a fresh, young replacement for Sanchez. Even if the Chilean continues with Arsenal in the future, Wenger could be tempted to deploy a formation with two strikers, playing both Alexandre Lacazette and Andre Silva, in order to sharpen the attack.
Silva is also wanted by Spanish giants Barcelona, who are searching for a new forward. Ever since Neymar infamously left the club to join Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona have become shockingly dependent on Lionel Messi when it comes to scoring goals. Their big summer signing Ousmane Dembele did show promise but will be sidelined for months due to an injury. Ernesto Valverde’s other options in that area – Deulofeu and Alcacer – have failed to do much.
Also, Luis Suarez is struggling, which has diminished Barcelona’s attacking threat. Thus, signing Silva could prove to be the ideal solution.
Let’s be honest – winning trophies will do wonders for a youngster like Silva and he has the best chance of doing that at Barcelona. Moreover, playing with the likes of Messi and Suarez at such an early age would shape Silva’s future well since he will be learning from the best.
