Tom Adeyemi
The former Norwich youth player has been a revelation since joining Birmingham City in the summer. After impressing in loan spells at Oldham & Brentford in the last two seasons, his move to Birmingham seemed a positive one for all those concerned.
He has not disappointed since making the move, his direct attacking style has been evident from the off. And he is proving to be one of Birmingham’s more important players. Speaking earlier in September, he spoke highly of playing in the Championship: “To play in the Championship is amazing for me and I am grateful for the chance.”
If he continues to impress in the same vain, he could make his England u21 debut.
Danny Ings
In the past, he’s never been known for his goalscoring, but with six league goals in nine games. He’s been instrumental to Burnley’s excellent start to the season.
The former Bournemouth striker has blossomed since the loss of Charlie Austin, it was feared that Burnley would struggle without the prolific Austin. However, Ings has proved to be just as clinical. He may have only just emerged this season, but he admits he has always backed himself to score goals: “I’ve always backed myself to say that if I play as a striker, I’ll score goals, and it’s showing this season.”
If he maintains his form, and likewise his strike partner, Sam Vokes does. Then Burnley could be a serious dark horse for the automatic promotion spots.
Antoni Sarcevic
An England C international, Antoni Sarcevic has been pivotal in Fleetwood’s positive start to the season. After signing from Chester in the summer, he has enjoyed a good start to the season with three goals thus far. The 21-year-old’s good work has been recognised for this month, he has nominated for the September player of the month for September.
Speaking earlier in September, he seemed overjoyed at the start to life at Fleetwood: “I couldn’t have asked for better to be fair. I was out for a week with the injury and there is no better way to come back and I am just glad to get my first goals for the club.”
Still only 21, it seems likely he will make a step to a higher in a few years. If Fleetwood fail in their pursuit of League One football. He may be the first to go.
Britt Assombalonga
For those who saw him make an impact at Southend, it has been no surprise that the former Watford striker has made an instant impact at London Road. One of the most explosive strikers in League One, his pace has been vital to the seven goals he’s managed this season.
After winning August’s young player of the month. He has not let it him get carried away, after scoring three goals this month. Including a world class strike against Bristol City, which saw the Posh take all three points in a 3-0 win.
Yet to make his debut for his home nation, DR Congo. It seems like a first cap could be just around the corner. The national team need revitalising after a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign. Britt could be the man to turn the tide.
Jed Wallace
Portsmouth may have endured a poor start to the season, but their teenage sensation Jed Wallace is showing his class once again. A versatile midfield player, the 19-year-old is a gem from the Portsmouth youth academy.
With two goals this season, including a magnificent solo goal against York. He has earned the praise of his manager, Guy Whittingham: “He’s maturing all the time. He’s a good player and he proved that with his performance.”
It may not be long before he departs Fratton Park, for a club like Portsmouth the England youth international represents a chance to make a large amount of revenue. It all depends on when they think the right time is to sell.
