Two Transfers Wolves Must Complete In January To Stay At The Top

Wolves have enjoyed a spectacular start to the new season and are sitting at the top of the Championship, 8 points ahead of second-placed Bristol City. However, they failed to secure another striker in the last transfer window, thus making the upcoming January window the ideal time to make a new addition to that department. Besides that, the club will be looking to bring in newer reinforcements to solidify their position at the top of the table.

Finding quality in the January window can prove to be a cumbersome task but the club are likely to target a new striker. Also, bringing in a new midfielder could remarkably improve depth in the middle and that could help the Wolves in their quest to win the Championship and secure a promotion to the top-flight. Hence, with that in mind, let’s take a look at two players they could sign to add greater flexibility to the team on the whole.

Michal Krmencik – Viktoria Plzen

Bonatini has proven to be a revelation for Wolves but going forward, they could use some new players to bear the responsibility. One of the names doing the rounds has been Nicolai Jorgensen but Krmencik has also been linked and does seem like a better option. He has scored 14 goals in 18 appearances for Plzen across all competitions and his goalscoring exploits have attracted attention from quite a number of clubs and if Wolves make a move, they could land him in what could be a coup.

Besides being blindingly fast coupled with superior skills as well, Krmencik is also quite strong when it comes to aerial encounters. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are in dire need of support for Bonatini and the 24-year-old seems like a good option. Also, he could also prove to be an economical option, which is likely to help Wolves comply with Financial Fair Play rules after splashing out quite some cash on Neves, Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa in the last couple of transfer windows.

Joao Carvalho – Benfica

The Benfica midfielder is steadily rising as a winter target, having attracted attention from quite a number of clubs. Wolves have also been linked and they could use a player like Carvalho in their team. However, the 20-year-old will be more of a long-term prospect. He spent a season on loan at Setubal recently and needs more time to develop. A move to join Wolverhampton Wanderers could truly help the player, while also providing the club with a dynamic talent for the future.
