Tottenham return to winning ways and got their Champions League campaign on track with a 5-0 win over Red Star Belgrade at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Harry Kane and Heung-min Son scored two goals each, while Erik Lamela added another to make it a comfortable night for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
After a fast start from the home side, captain Kane put them ahead with a glancing header towards the left side of the goal following a pin-point corner from Lamela.
Seven minutes later, Son made it two with a close-range finish at the back post. Lamela was the architect of another goal with his run and cross from the right wing.
Spurs dominated the game thereafter and got their third just before half-time when Tanguy Ndombele ran past the Red Star midfielders before setting Son to score into the bottom corner.
The home side didn’t take the foot off their pedal and got their fourth goal in the 57th minute when Serge Aurier’s cut back found Lamela to score past the helpless Red Star keeper.
Kane made it five in the 72nd minute when Ndombele produced another very good pass to release the striker in space. The England captain then had no doubts in scoring.
All in all, a commanding win for Spurs after a series of bad results. They are now second in the group-stage table and at least look very good going forward.
