Fantasy Premier League Tips (Game Week 1): Take Arsenal Stars, Van Persie Dilemma And More

Share

So the wait is finally over! The English Premier League is back and so is the Fantasy Premier League. We can very well understand the pain that the FPL managers had to undertake for such a long period of time without any action, but then as they say every cloud has a silver lining. Thus the game is back in a much more exciting manner and with a host of new players to choose from. It is the opening week and hence the managers may be in a dilemma about the team formations and the position of the players. The managers may just have to keep in mind a few things.

Tricky situation for Bale and Suarez

The Tottenham midfielder will cost the managers £12m, but may be on his way out of the club at any time. If one thinks hardly, Spurs never start their season with fireworks and only do the catch up act from a few weeks later. On the other hand Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is priced £11m, but is banned for the first six games of the season for biting Chelsea defender Ivanovic last term. Also the future of Suarez is very much unsettled and he may leave Anfield anytime. In these circumstances, it would be better for the managers to avoid these high priced options and wait for some more time to get matters settled.

City players out and Arsenal Players In

Both Manchester City and Chelsea have tremendous strength and squad depth that even their best players need to be in top form in order to be sure of being in the starting 11. So, be careful while taking players from these sides as you may lose points if your player did not play full 90 mins.  On the other hand, it’s more sensible to take Arsenal stars like Cazorla and Giroud (in form) as they are guaranteed starters at least until Arsenal sign any new striker.

Big question mark over Van Persie

is RVP too costly in FPL?

The situations with Bale and Suarez has made Van Persie to be a real valuable player for the managers. But his price is sky high and that may just jinx his inclusion in a lot of teams. A player has to be extremely good to be worth as much as £14m and although no one doubts with his capabilities, he has to produce some real magic to justify that price tag. To make matters worse, United have the toughest opening fixture where they face Chelsea, Liverpool and City in the opening five. All these may just change the mind of many FPL managers about including in their team.

The newcomers

One of the primary attractions of the new season remains to be the new players and the possibility that they bring with them. This season has been no different with a bunch of new players joining the league with immense possibility. We shall start off with Roberto Soldado who has joined Spurs as their primary striking option. Priced at £9.5m, he can be one of the important players of a manager’s team. Liverpool striker Iago Aspas can be a good option at £7m, provided he gets to be in the team on a regular basis and plays in more of a central role. The others that could be considered are Jesus Navas, Negredo, Wilfried Bony, Gerard Deulofeu to name a few. But it is not until a few weeks that it can be said with more conviction whether these players are worth giving a shot or not.
