Two late goals from Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku sealed a spot for the Red Devils in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The 2-0 victory came after a long wait, as they were held by the Rams until the 83rd minute, before Lingard, who is the form of his life, broke the deadlock. Romelu Lukaku then put the game to bed by scoring the 2nd goal. Manchester United obviously had more say in possession, chances created and shots on goal, but the goals came late. In the end, however, all that matters in a cup game is if it is won at the end of the day or not, no matter how.
Not too many saves to make apart from a few routine ones. His save off Lawrence in the second half was spectacular. Overall, he was safe as a house.
Stood up to the occasion while getting forward but was caught high up the pitch and out of position on a couple of occasions.
He was just fine in the entire game, kept himself busy, tackled well but was outfoxed by Olsson for the header, which almost gave Derby the lead.
Closed down the players effectively, was always on the front foot and never looked troubled. Made crucial interceptions.
Got in behind the Derby defence many times, was a constant threat going forward and provided good quality crosses. Also, he displayed some solid defending.
Was very good with interceptions, breaking the play and sharp tackles. He offered high work rate and passed around accurately.
Good with the free kicks, stretched the opposition defence by providing early balls from the right flank and overall, had a decent game.
The Armenian was quiet again, for the entire outing. He barely created a chance or added zip to the attack. He looks very low on confidence and it’s quite unfortunate for the player of his calibre. Rightly so, he was substituted at half-time.
Got into advanced positions, looked like a goal scoring threat and provided some set-piece scare. He should have registered his name on the score sheet.
He was on top of his game yet again. Lingard cut inside with ease, attacked right from the centre and didn’t require the wider players. His goal was another one of those beauties of his. He now has 8 in the last 10 games.
Hit the frame of the goal on two occasions but spilt an easy header. No wonder he plays on the wings and not as a No.9.
Superb hold-up play, brought many bodies into the picture and finished off his chance brilliantly. Certainly, he was more of an aerial threat than Rashford.
He eased his way past people whenever he was on the ball. Put up a fine display of his trickery and assisted Lukaku for the second goal.
Came on in the 80th minute, won the aerial duels and did okay.
