Manchester City left it very late in the day to seal a 1-0 win over Southampton in the final game of the 2017/18 Premier League season at the St. Mary’s Stadium, thanks to a last-gasp Gabriel Jesus winner.
When it seemed certain that the game was going to end in a draw, substitute Jesus came up with a sublime finish four minutes into added time to fire the newly crowned champions to a win and in the process help the team break the 100-point barrier in the Premier League.
Had a fairly quiet outing between the sticks, apart from one moment in the second period when he was caught by Dusan Tadic.
Another solid and steady display from the Brazilian. Was alert at the back, positive and purposeful when getting forward on the right-hand side.
Started off a little sluggishly but improved as the game wore on, playing an important role in subduing any threat that the Saints posed.
The January arrival had a fairly straightforward outing alongside Stones. Passed accurately, kept things under control, although his positioning does look suspect on occasions.
The Englishman had a fairly solid game for the Cityzens at left-back. Showed good intent on the ball and his passing was pinpoint.
Had a disappointing first period where he failed to impose himself on the game. Improved after the break and set up the winner for Jesus.
Had a great chance to open the scoring in the second period but fired his effort way over the bar. Did his duties in the middle with usual diligence.
Tried hard to influence things and unlock the Saints’ backline but things did not always work for the German. Faded after the break and was taken off.
The fleet-footed Portuguese international failed to make the desired impact and cut an isolated figure at times. There were glimpses of quality but few and far in between.
Starting as the central striker, the England international worked hard at the top for the Sky Blues and got into dangerous positions on occasions.
Always looked capable of opening up the game with his pace and movement but ultimately failed to make the desired impact.
Came on for Delph in the 59th minute. Looked bright from the get-go and sealed the win late on.
Came on to replace Silva in the 78th minute.
Replaced Gundogan with less than 10 minutes left.
