Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways against Brighton and Hove Albion after picking up a 2-1 win at the Amex Stadium. Spurs suffered a couple of losses in recent weeks but were in control against the Seagulls.
Harry Kane converted from the spot after Glenn Murray handled the ball in the box. Erik Lamela then tapped home Danny Rose’s inswinger. Chris Hughton’s men did threaten to make a comeback through a late equaliser from Anthony Knockaert but there wasn’t enough time to salvage a point.
The stand-in goalkeeper didn’t have much to do and made a couple of fine saves off Anthony Knockaert.
Struggled to hold down Solly March for the majority of the game. Trippier didn’t seem comfortable at the back today.
Once again, the Belgian was a commander at the back and was defensively solid throughout.
Not his best appearance in a Spurs shirt as Vertonghen looked slightly off the pace. It could be the age taking its toll on him.
He was brilliant going forward, picking up the assist for Lamela’s goal. But Rose was often caught upfield, which handed Knockaert his goal.
It was another average performance from Eric Dier. The midfielder really needs to do more in order to make a difference.
Dembele was defensively good but often slowed down Spurs’ play in the attack. It wasn’t the Belgian’s best performance.
Son failed to make an impact. The South Korean could be out of sync after missing a few games while on national duty.
A surprisingly average performance from Christian Eriksen. He failed to provide the spark and was unable to make things happen in the final third.
Moura and Kane failed to link up well after showing great cohesion in recent weeks. Kane looked better after the Brazilian was substituted.
Scored the opening goal from the penalty spot but Kane seems to be struggling to find a goal from open play. The England captain just hasn’t been clinical enough.
Thanks to Lamela’s cool finish, Spurs were able to seal three points. The Argentine made a massive impact after coming on.
Alli immediately got on the ball and tried to make things happen. He almost found Kane at the far corner at the end of the game.
