Would This Ex-Manchester United Trickster Be A Hit If He Does Return To The Premier League

Share

Seemed as an outcast at Manchester United, Nani is making a name for himself in Turkey and now in France with the Portuguese side. The 29-year-old didn’t have the greatest time at Manchester United a couple of seasons ago but seems to have found his mojo at Fenerbahce.

The former United star scored eight goals and provided eight assists for the side in the Turkish League and there are rumours that Stoke City and a few other clubs are interested in bringing the crafty winger back to the Premier League.

Nani was initialy sent on loan to Sporting CP in Portugal and even though he didn’t have the best season for the Portuguese club, he was signed by Fenerbahce for €4.25 million from Manchester United.

The biggest problem for Nani in his many years at the top level is his inconsistency. On one day, he is the greatest winger on the face of the earth and on other days, he could be tackled by someone’s 6-year-old and he would end up sprawling on the floor like his legs have been cut off.

This is just the problem that many managers have faced with Nani but credit must be given where it is due, the winger has made quite an impact in Turkey and truth be told, he would be a great signing for Mark Hughes and Stoke City.

The Potters do have a pretty strong side which needs a couple of flair players. Last season saw the rise of Xherdan Shaqiri but even the Swiss international needs some help and the likes of Bojan Krkic and Marko Arnautovic are not enough to ensure that Stoke have a glut of goals in them.

Nani would provide Stoke City or any other club for that matter not only a creative outlet but someone who is willing to hug the touchline and put in a cross or two. He is extremely quick on the ball as well and has great dribbling qualities that would worry even the most seasoned defender.

It might have been a surprise to see him leave the Premier League a couple of years ago but he has quality that some of the mid-table teams could use. He has even found a new role in the Portuguese team and is now seen playing as another striker, so all is good with the 29-year-old.

If a club does take a bit of a risk to bring Nani to the club, it could work out like magic but you have to keep the caveat that out of 10 games, Nani would go missing in at least 3-4. If a team is willing to have that kind of luxury player in the side, the 29-year-old and his bag of tricks would be a delight for the Premier League once again.
