Everton would return to winning ways if they find reinforcements for these 3 key departments in January

Everton bolstering these 3 departments is the need of the hour for Silva

Everton are currently in the relegation zone and it has been a forgettable season for the club so far. With the winter transfer window fast approaching, it is evident that they need to shore up than one area.

The Toffees have conceded 13 goals in eight games and have managed just two clean sheets since the beginning of the season. They have struggled to attack as well, scoring just six goals in retaliation.

Here are the three most important positions Everton should focus on during the transfer window to rise up and secure a top-six finish.

Right-back

Seamus Coleman has played all the Premier Lague games so far but a red card in their 1-0 defeat to Burnley will keep him suspended till October 26th, meaning he will miss two league games.

It will a testing time for Djibril Sidibe, who the Toffees brought in on loan from Monaco, and Mason Holgate, who has made just one substitute appearance this season. While Sidibe may return to Monaco in January due to a lack of playing time, Holgate is too young and inexperienced to fill Coleman’s void.

The Toffees clearly lack depth at right-back and the transfer window in January will an opportunity for Marco Silva to fill the full-back position.

Striker

Everton have played the likes of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Kean and Cenk Tosun in the striker’s position but they have all failed horribly.

The quartet has managed just four league goals among themselves this season. The Toffees clearly lack an experienced striker in the final third – someone with a better conversion rate – as creative midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson and left-back Lucas Digne are providing ample scoring opportunities.

Defensive Midfielder

Morgan Schneiderlin is the only experienced player in the defensive midfield role. Even though Schneiderlin is 28, Everton clearly lack a back-up if the French international has to be rested.

Tom Davies

Tom Davies is another midfielder who can play at the position but his lack of experience will certainly raise some questions. Either Marco Silva will have to hand more opportunities to Davies or lookout for a defensive midfielder in January.
