Everton opinion: The Toffees have to make a move for David Neres

According to English news outlet the Guardian, Everton are very interested in winning the race for Eredivisie star David Neres. That shouldn’t come as a surprise after the season that young Neres had, finishing with 12 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

It’s an impressive total for a young 22-year-old winger and would suggest why Everton need to make a move for him. While Neres is a forward, the 22-year-old is versatile enough to play across the midfield line, even as an attacking midfielder.

Add that to his creativity, guile and confidence in the final third and it combines to make a very lethal player. The statistics back that up, with the Brazilian contributing to 27 goals this season, with 15 goals and 14 assists last season.

While there are questions about his consistency and mentality when performing at a higher stage, Neres answered that in the Champions League this season. That’s what Everton need and so far this season most of the burden has been on either Gylfi Sigurdsson or Richarlison to produce goals and the two have responded.

They’ve managed 26 goals and 8 assists between themselves so far but that is the extent of things for Everton. A far third is Dominic Calvert-Lewin but the striker has only managed six goals this season. It shows exactly why the club needs another winger and a few players in the world would fit as nicely as David Neres.

A powerful and explosive forward, the Brazilian combines close control with creativity and vision in the final third. That shows in his statistics this season, with Neres averaging 1.8 shots, 1.1 key passes and a passing accuracy of 84%.

The Brazilian would be an astute signing for the Toffee. The Toffees are not the biggest club in the Premier League and but are really hoping that they can become one of the top dogs soon.

They’ve managed to add high-quality players in the summer of 2018. The likes of Lucas Digne and Richarlison have proven to be brilliant additions. That is exactly what David Neres will add to Everton. The young winger is just the man that they need on their teamsheet.

Conclusion

Everton need a few additions that can push them forward. Adding someone like David Neres will help their cause and with time, the 22-year-old will become a world-class addition.
