Everton opinion: Should the Toffees sign Ante Rebic?

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Everton have set their sights on Eintracht Frankfurt’s attacker Ante Rebic for a summer move. The 25-year-old has been outstanding this season for the Bundesliga outfit and would be a fantastic addition to the Toffees squad next season.

A part of Croatia’s squad which made it to the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Rebic has been one of the stars of Frankfurt team this season, having scored 8 goals and assisted 3 in 20 appearances in the Bundesliga so far.

Rebic’s performances this season have been overshadowed at times by Luka Jovic and Sebastien Haller but he has been one of Adolf Hutter’s most important players so far. The Croatian has been mainly used as a second striker this season but has also featured in the number 10 role.

Rebic’s quickness and phenomenal control over the ball also enable him to play on either wing and he has done so on multiple occasions for both club and country so far in his career.

His dribbling skills help him a lot to take on players and his trickery on the ball has often left opponents on the ground and embarrassed.

The Croatian’s vision is outstanding and he can pick a pass even in a narrow angle. The weight of his passes are almost always perfect and thanks to his strength on both feet, he does not take much time to release through balls.

One of Rebic’s biggest strengths up top is his movement. The 25-year-old is often seen drifting to the wing or deep into his own half which brings his marker with him and allows a ton of space for his teammates to run into.

When he manages to get into the space on the wings, he drives into the box and has the ability to both take a shot on or cross from the by-line with incredible power and precision.

The one trait that makes Rebic so dangerous as a second striker is his phenomenal ability to shoot from distance. Unlike most players who possess a scary shot from distance, Rebic is incredibly smart in front of goal.

He knows when to use his power and when to catch the goalkeeper out of position. His variation of power and placement in shooting often confuses a goalkeeper.

Conclusion

Ante Rebic could well prove to be the missing piece in Marco Silva’s puzzle. Rebic’s arrival will solve what has been Everton’s biggest problem this season – scoring goals.

The Toffees have just two players with double figures in goals this season and the Croatian can form a deadly offensive partnership with Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson if signed.
