According to a report in the Metro, Everton are looking to sign Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi. The figure offered by Everton is around £30million, which isn’t too high considering the inflated football transfer market today.
Iwobi is a Nigerian international and came from the Arsenal academy. He’s been a fine player for the Gunners cause of his versatility, pace and trickery but Arsenal seem to be moving in a new direction with changes in the footballing hierarchy and management. Everton need options for their forward line and Iwobi would do an adequate job.
Everton weren’t very convincing last season and will have to do a lot better in the coming term. They made a decent start to the season but really struggled before an inspired performance against local rivals Liverpool gave them some impetus for the rest of the term.
They went on to have fine wins against the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal following that and will be hoping for more of the same in the next season.
Everton are making an effort to transform into a more attacking unit under Marco Silva but it was quite clear last season that he didn’t have the tools to do that, often depending on the individual brilliance of Lucas Digne, Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
They’ve finally added some goals in Moise Kean and they’ve also added some experience in Fabian Delph. Getting Andre Gomes to commit his long-term future was massive while they also signed Jean-Philippe Gbamin to bolster their midfield options.
To that end, Iwobi is young and hungry to improve and his work ethic will definitely be encouraged by the Goodison Park faithful.

Everton have spent a lot of money and are a historic club. They will be hoping that they can break into those Europa League spots or even the top-four with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United showing some vulnerabilities in recent seasons.
There is a fantastic opportunity to break into those places and they’ll be hoping that this could be that year for them.
