Why Everton should offload Oumar Niasse

According to a report in the Liverpool Echo, Everton look set to offload Oumar Niasse before the transfer window ends and it’s probably for the best.

Niasse joined Everton in 2016 from Locotomiv Moscow and is a fantastic professional but he simply does not have the quality to match the Toffees’ lofty ambitions.

He had to go out on loan in the 2016/17 season with Hull City under current Everton boss Marco Silva and impressed during that short period but on his return, he couldn’t manage to settle into the first team and found himself at Cardiff City later.

In the last two seasons, the forward has only managed to score 5 goals in 30 appearances and it’s not looking like he’s going to get many chances with the forward areas taken up now by the likes of Moise Kean and Alex Iwobi being added, while already having Theo Walcott, Richarlison and Bernard.

Everton have adopted a new structure under director Marcel Brands with ambitious new owners in Farhad Moshiri.

They’ve trusted Marco Silva to help carry the club forward and he’ll be under a lot of pressure to deliver this season. Silva has gotten off to a decent start with an away draw in the first game of the season against Crystal Palace and a win at home against his former side Watford.

Just as important as what happens on the pitch is what happens outside it and in the dressing room and getting rid of players, who are now considered to be deadwood.

This is why it’s important that Silva is allowed to do his task in the best manner possible and getting rid of Oumar Niasse is just as important because managing a bloated squad is a difficult task.

Conclusion

Everton have a good run of fixtures to start the season and Silva will need to use these fixtures to gain some momentum to build belief in the squad. They face Aston Villa in their next game and are yet to concede a goal.

Everton, in the back of their minds, will be eyeing a Champions League spot but will be fairly content with a spot in the Europa League. The Toffees have a massive squad with no places for many of their players and this is a step in the right direction.
