According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Everton have been linked with Barcelona winger Malcom this summer. The Brazilian, 22, was set to join Roma last summer from French club Bordeaux before Barcelona moved at the eleventh hour to hijack the deal.
However, the move has not gone according to the plan as Malcom started just six La Liga games in his debut season at the Nou Camp. In all, the nippy forward made 24 appearances for Ernesto Valverde’s side last season, scoring four times and assisting twice.
He has already been on the fringes and the possible return of Neymar would all but certainly signal the end of his Barcelona days. That being said, Everton must offer Malcom with an escape route out of the Nou Camp this summer.
The Toffees have made their intentions clear this summer by snapping up free agent Jonas Lossl from Huddersfield Town and landing Andre Gomes on a permanent deal.
The Merseysiders have generally looked at signing younger players since Marcel Brands and Marco Silva arrived at the Goodison Park last summer, with the club keen to reduce the average age of their squad.
Everton have found good success in the 2018 summer transfer window, with the likes of Lucas Digne, Bernard and Richarlison all proving to be top signings. Silva and Brands will be looking to continue in the same vein and recruit players that fit the club’s profile.
One particular area where Silva should focus next is his attacking options, with the Toffees having struggled for goals last season. Theo Walcott had a difficult campaign, failing to build on the promise he showed since arriving from Arsenal in the 2018 winter transfer window.
With that in mind, this summer transfer window would be the right time for Silva to sign an upgrade on Walcott, and Malcom would be the perfect candidate. A technically gifted player, Malcom can play anywhere along the front-line.
He possesses pace and power in abundance, whilst can terrorise defences with his movement, dribbling skills and crossing abilities. He has the tendency to cut into his stronger foot from the right wing and test goalkeepers from long range.
The Brazil international has the technical abilities to light up an occasion and win games single-handedly on his day. The former Bordeaux star will add the element of flair to Everton’s attack, whilst potentially taking the pressure of Richarlison in the final third by striking up a fantastic partnership with his compatriot.

All in all, Malcom would undoubtedly bring in a lot of assists and goals at Goodison Park.
Should Marco Silva manage to bring Malcom to Goodison Park this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Everton.
