Erling Haaland is one of the brightest youngsters in European football.
The 19-year-old Norwegian striker made the news recently after scoring a hat-trick on his Champions League debut for RB Salzburg.
Genk were thrashed 6-2 in the group opener, and Haaland looked impressive for the Austrian side.
His father, Alf Inge Haaland represented Leeds United, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest but will be remembered for clashing with Manchester United’s Roy Keane.
The younger Haaland only joined Salzburg in January and has already bagged seven goals from 11 league games.
However, the 19-year-old told Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten in 2017 that he wanted to land the Premier League with Leeds (h/t Sky Sports):
“I want to be the best. The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds.”
The youngster further claimed that he wants to be better than his father, and hopes to play more international games than the former Leeds star.
Haaland’s dream about playing for Leeds isn’t a guarantee but the Whites have been close to a Premier League return.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side seemed set to win the Championship early on last season but were eliminated in the playoffs.
The Argentine has seen his team lead the Championship this season too, but there is a long way to go before promotion is confirmed.
Haaland was born in Leeds (h/t Sky Sports) and it will be interesting to see where he ends up if he continues banging the goals in for fun.
The youngster also scored nine goals in Norway’s U20 FIFA World Cup win over Honduras.
