Enough is enough – It is time for this 24-year-old Chelsea attacker to move out permanently

Why Michy Batshuayi must push to make his move to Borussia Dortmund a permanent one

Antonio Conte has made several questionable decisions at Chelsea and a major one of those was his apparent lack of trust in Michy Batshuayi and his capabilities. Even though fans and critics recognised the striker’s capabilities, the Italian gaffer just never seemed to believe in him and utilised him very rarely. Last season, he was sidelined due to Diego Costa’s presence and once Alvaro Morata arrived, Batshuayi had to be content with playing second fiddle to him.

However, in the recently concluded January window, the club sent him out on a loan to Borussia Dortmund and he has been exceptional for the Bundesliga giants since then.

In fact, his performances have been so influential that a recent report from German publication Bild suggests that Marco Reus wants Batshuayi to stay with the club on a permanent basis. And it certainly does not come as a surprise, especially since Batshuayi has netted 5 times in 6 league appearances for Dortmund.

The 24-year-old’s talent and potential was never a matter of doubt and yet, Conte seemed to shy away from using him more regularly – even at a time when Morata’s performances fluctuated. Fortunately for him though, the move to Dortmund has made it quite clear that he is capable of performing on the big stage and since he’s won the fans and his new teammates over, it might be best for him to continue with the club on a long-term basis as well.

Although reports do suggest that Conte’s future is uncertain at Chelsea beyond the end of the season, it remains to be seen if they actually sack him. In case they don’t, then a move back to Stamford Bridge is likely to be futile for Batshuayi.

Furthermore, with Morata struggling in front of the goal and with Eden Hazard’s future being doubtful as well, the club will definitely be looking to sign new strikers in the upcoming summer transfer window to possibly try and fill the Diego Costa-shaped hole.

Once that happens, Batshuayi might have to go back to playing second fiddle again and clearly, a player of his calibre, deserves a lot more. Hence, to continue his individual growth and development, and to establish his reputation as one of the most promising attackers in the game, Batshuayi must push to make his move to Dortmund a permanent one.

Having already made quite an impact, he can truly shine for them next season as well and in doing so, Batshuayi will take a major step forward in his career.
