Why This Dutch Star Is Destined To Be A Perfect Backup For Harry Kane At Tottenham

Share

Mauricio Pochettino’s side failed to catch up to Premier League leaders Leicester City in the race for the title and eventually finished the campaign below their north London rivals Arsenal in third place on the points table. Further, Tottenham also failed to impress in the Europa League and were knocked out of by Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund in a one sided tie. Despite all the hardships, the Londoners managed to qualify for the Champions League for the upcoming campaign, as they secured a top four finish and will now want to make full use of this golden opportunity that they have earned.

There have been a host of players being linked with a move to White Hart Lane, as the Spurs boss looks to strengthen his squad in order to survive the challenge he has to face, for the upcoming campaign. Though the current attack is quite strong, one player who is being monitored for quite some time is Dutch international Vincent Janssen.

The 21 year old striker could be the perfect backup for Harry Kane and is also a summer target for the Gunners, as per recent reports. Currently playing for Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar, the attacker has managed to score 27 times in 34 appearances. The player is really a high quality finisher and though he can score with either foot, fancies his left.

The power and confidence in most of his strikes is clearly evident and though he is not the quickest of players, his passing and accuracy give him an edge over most other players. He looks calm and composed with the ball at his feet and takes charge of the attacks, which has been the reason for his success and he has been attracting the interest of a host of clubs across the European continent.

His goal scoring record speaks for itself and though Kane will surely be the first choice at the club, Janssen will add another dimension to their play. Another bonus point would be his accuracy at passing the ball and supplying decent through balls for his team-mates to score. He is good in the air as well and can trouble the opponents in set-pieces as well.

The superstar striker is a physical presence on the pitch as well and with Tottenham looking to play in Europe’s top competition next term, such a renowned goal scorer could surely come in hand. The only problem would be competition from Arsene Wenger’s side, who could look to sign the star, in case they fail to bring their primary attacking targets to the Emirates.

Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the player just like their fierce rivals and an intense battle could be expected for the highly rated player in the days to come.
