A Dream And A Reality – Two Tottenham XIs That Pochettino Can Field Next Season

Mauricio Pochettino will be a happy man with the progress his side has made this season. But he will be aware of the fact that the squad needs improvement next season if they are to make a better title challenge. The manager has been linked with a number of star players recently and with Champions League football all but confirmed, Pochettino would already be thinking about his squad next season.

Some star players have constantly been linked with a move to the club and here is a dream XI that Pochettino can field next season:

The Dream Tottenham XI:

Goalkeeper – Hugo Lloris:

With Real Madrid on the hunt for a shot stopper, Lloris may not be too far away from their eyes and Pochettino will be happy if he can keep him at the club next season.

Full backs – Kyle Walker, Danny Rose:

The English duo is the first choice for club and country at the moment and are among the best in the league. They are wanted by Mourinho at Old Trafford but Pochettino should be able to keep them at the club and they should be first choice next season.

Center Backs – Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen:

The Belgian duo have done an excellent job this season and are one of the best in the top flight. Pochettino might yet spend on a defender but Alderweireld and Vertonghen should be the first choice for the next season as well.

Midfield – Naby Keita, Mousa Dembele:

Dembele is a fan favorite and has been superb this season. He has been partnered by Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier but Pochettino has been looking for a better option and Keita might make the Spurs squad a stronger one.

Attack – Christian Eriksen, Alvaro Morata, Dele Alli, Harry Kane:

While Dele Alli and Harry Kane have been impeccable, neither of them is far from attracting interests in the summer and Pochettino will be happy to see them at the club next season. Christian Eriksen is adding consistency to his game and should keep his place in the side next season.

The manager has been looking at some star players to add to his attack and Real Madrid’s versatile Alvaro Morata seems to be the best fit at the moment. Capable of playing in several positions, Morata can act as a perfect second fiddle for Harry Kane, making this Spurs attack all the more dangerous.

Here is a realistic playing XI that Pochettino can field next season.

The Realistic Tottenham XI:

Goal Keeper – Hugo Lloris:

The Frenchman despite some rumours about not being happy at the club is the first choice and is a costly option for any club. He could very well stay at the Lane and continue being part of this special project under Pochettino.

Defence – Kyle Walker, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose:

Though this might not be exciting, Pochettino’s back line has been solid this season and there is very little reason for him to change it. The English and the Belgian stars should be regular starters next season, barring injuries.

Midfield – Victor Wanyama/Dier/Winks, Mousa Dembele:

The former Southampton man has been a beast this season and will only get better. He is backed up by Eric Dier along with Mousa Dembele, and the trio should play most of the games for Spurs next season. Harry Winks is another option. So Pochettino might not spend on another Central midfielder.

Attack – Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Lamela/Wilfried Zaha/Son, Harry Kane:

The English duo would be the obvious first choice next season alongside Christian Eriksen, who has also been consistent. While Eric Lamela may yet be productive next season, Pochettino will have to spend on an attacker in the summer and Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has been on the radar for some time now. He has been exceptional this season at the Selhurst Park and could battle it out with Son for a starting berth next season for Tottenham.
