According to reports from the Mirror, Newcastle United are working on completing a deal for Norwich City attacker Jacob Murphy.
The 22-year old winger has been attracting strong interest from fellow Premier League sides Southampton and Crystal Palace as well, but manager Rafael Benitez is keen on getting the deal done at the earliest and is reportedly closing in on the £8million rated England youth international.
There was plenty of interest in Murphy from several Championship clubs, but following an impressive campaign with the England U21 side in the European Championships last month in Poland, Newcastle have stepped up their pursuit of the midfielder. Alongside Shelvey, it will be former Arsenal man Isaac Hayden who will be tasked with providing the solidity and the defensive shield to the back four.
