Manchester United’s Tyler Blackett is all set to move to Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, with the youngster keen on remaining in Glasgow on loan for the current season. The England Under-21 international was introduced to the Celtic fans at half-time during Saturday’s 3-1 win over rivals St Johnstone.
The Englishman can play either in central defence or as a left-back and wanted to move away from Old Trafford for some regular football.
After the deal was completed, Celtic boss Ronny Deila told BBC Scotland, “So for us he’s going to be important.”
“He can play two or three positions and he has a lot of ability.”
Blackett made just 12 appearances for the Red Devils in the previous campaign and has also had loan spells at Blackpool and Birmingham City.
Deila further added, “He’s a very good football player, first of all, that’s the most important thing and he has high ambitions.”
“He wants to come and play and be important in a team and at United he has been a little bit out of the team.”
