Dele Alli struck a quickfire double in the second-half as Tottenham Hotspur’s 28-year hoodoo at Stamford Bridge ended in emphatic fashion.
Alvaro Morata capitalised on a Hugo Lloris error to give Chelsea the lead in the 30th minute before Christian Eriksen’s rocket levelled things up before the break.
After the break, it turned out to be a Dele Alli show. The midfielder brilliantly controlled Eric Dier’s pinpoint cross and put Spurs ahead just after the hour mark and added one more to stun the defending champions.
The defeat leaves 5th-placed Chelsea 8 points behind Spurs and the Blues now face serious trouble in securing a top-4 finish.
Caballero endured shaky moments in the game. He could have at least tried to stop Eriksen’s long-range goal. Made a brilliant save to deny Son but was beaten twice by Alli after the break.
Azpilicueta had a rare off day. The Spaniard tried to inspire his side but to no avail.
Christensen struggled to cope with Spurs’ quick counter-attacks. He looked like a man devoid of confidence and his decision-making in the game was very poor.
He played some good balls over the top but was caught out of position a number of times. Had Spurs taken their chances, it would have been worse for the hosts.
Moses was a livewire on the right. Bombarded up and down with good intensity. He put in a delicious ball to Morata for the opener. However, he was at fault for giving away the ball for Eriksen to score.
Alonso got into some really good positions but he lacked the end product. A poor outing for the Spaniard.
Arguably the only man who can walk with his head held high on a chastening day at the office. Kante controlled the proceedings in the first half. After the break, he tried to make things happen but to no avail. However, it was a performance worthy of a shout.
Fabregas lacked the spark to get Chelsea going. The game passed by and he failed to make an impact.
Willian has been Chelsea’s best player for the last two months or so but he lacked the cutting edge against Spurs. He grew into the game after the break but failed to create any magic moments.
When Hazard was needed the most, he failed to deliver. The Belgian dropped deep a number of times but it never worked for him. His influence faded as the game wore on.
Morata scored a really good header to give Chelsea the lead. However, he faded after the break, just like most of his teammates.
