Dzeko or Benzema? Which Target Man Should Arsenal Sign?

Share

Who among Dzeko or Benzema will suit perfectly for Arsenal?

Be it the cacophony of cheers at Emirates or the glaring miss to slot home, on what might have been the equaliser against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Danish striker Nikolas Bendtner’s time at Arsenal is surely well and truly over. The Gunners faithful would surely love to see the back of the Dane who has had very meager to do over the last two campaigns, and his walk out from Arsenal looks imminent. Bendtner rarely offers something for Arsene Wenger’s boys with his seemingly lack of pace, neither he is creative or can be used as a outlet. Arsenal are already being linked with some of the best centre forwards available in the market with the likes of Edin Dzeko and Karim Benzema doing the rounds in and around the land below the azure skies of the Emirates.

With current Denmark Boss Marten Olsen also echoing the feelings of his number one striker saying that Bendtner needs to leave Emirates to get playing time and should be starting more often than not. ‘He needs to play. He has maybe 10 years left to go; he must use them well. Bendtner scored two great goals for us in the game against Italy, but there were also things he lacked in the match and this only comes through playing games,’ Olsen told reporters. ‘It is for this reason that he should find something new this winter. I think he will make the recommendation to himself and that is the main thing. Footballers want to play football.

So who are the replacements lined up as Arsene Wenger lays claims to his title aspirations in what has been now almost a decade. If the major tabloids are to be believed, Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko and Real Madrid’s French striker Karim Benzema’s names are doing the rounds. So who will fill in better?

Dzeko no doubt would be more than a ideal back up for Arsenal’s Oliver Giroud. The Bosnian has gone down the ranks with Alvaro Negredo joining the Citizens over the course of Summer and has former Fiorentina’s star striker Simon Jovetic waiting to pounce on any possible opportunities. He is also more than just a ‘super sub’ who has immense poaching skills and is always at the right place at the right time. Moreover, he has a wonder right foot and puts his laces behind the ball with absolute ease.

Benzema is the right man for Arsenal

The North London club are also on the lookout for Real Madrid’s 25 year old Karim Benzema who might be sold if the right price does come in January. Wenger seems to very fond of his young countryman and does want him if he is available. If Benzema is to arrive at Emirates, I feel it will be more effective than signing Dzeko, the latter who is also linked to Serie A side Inter Milan. If the Benzema deal does go through, Arsenal would have two young French strikers fighting for a place not just in the starting club at the club level, they would also be in direct competition to excel as the International stage.
