Depoitre, Pritchard to lead the line: Strongest 4-2-3-1 Huddersfield line-up to face Manchester City

Share

Huddersfield Town travel to Etihad stadium to face champions Manchester City on Sunday in the Premier League.

The Terriers were beaten 2-0 by Everton at John Smith’s Stadium last Saturday and are now within three points of the relegation zone. They have stiff tests to go for the rest of this term which starts with City on Sunday, followed by an away clash with Chelsea and a home game against Arsenal.

With fixtures against three of the top six yet to be played, Huddersfield will struggle to pick up any points but David Wagner will be confident of upsetting the big boys.

Probable Huddersfield XI to face Manchester City

Manager: David Wagner

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Jonas Lossl (GK)

Lossl has been decent this season and remains the first-choice between the sticks.

Florent Hadergjonaj (RB)

The manager has deployed Hadergjonaj at right-back and the Switzerland international has proven to be effective. He is likely to retain his spot over the weekend.

Mathias Jorgensen (CB)

Jorgensen has been a reliable presence at the back. The Danish defender adds a lot of solidity to the backline and will be set to start against Manchester City.

Mathias Jørgensen

Christopher Schindler (CB)

Starting alongside Jorgensen at the heart of defence will be Schindler. The German inspires a lot of confidence and is a definite starter against City.

Terence Kongolo (LB)

Primarily a centre-back, Kongolo has been used at left-back by Wagner and the move has worked well. The on-loan Monaco man has performed decently but will need to be at his best to keep Raheem Sterling at bay.

Jonathan Hogg (CM)

Hogg has been a permanent fixture in the Huddersfield team this season. He likes to keep things simple and provides a lot of energy in the midfield.

Aaron Mooy (CM)

Mooy is one of the most important players in the Huddersfield squad. Although he has faded in the second half due to injuries, there is no questioning his abilities. Mooy will be raring to go against his former club as Huddersfield eye three precious points this weekend.

Collin Quaner (RW)

With his blinding pace and power, Quaner has the ability to stretch defences. He will need to be at the top of his game if Huddersfield are to win against Manchester City.

Alex Pritchard (CAM)

Huddersfield’s January signing from Norwich City, Pritchard has shown flashes of brilliance but needs to improve his end product. A nippy and skilful attacker, he will be looking to deliver the goods against the Premier League champions.

Rajiv van La Parra (LW)

Van La Parra adds a lot of pace and zip to the Huddersfield attack. The Dutchman is enjoying a good season but needs to step up in the last three games to ensure his club stays in the top-flight next term.

Laurent Depoitre (ST)

Leading the Huddersfield attack will be Laurent Depoitre. Depoitre is a tall and bulky striker and could be a handful for the City defenders. With his power and strength, the Belgian will be looking to bully the opposition and get all of three points on Sunday.
