Deadline Day Blows For United And Liverpool – No More Business This WIndow

Share

It’s the deadline day today and whilst almost all the clubs are busy trying to land their targets before the window shuts down, several clubs including Chelsea, Manchester City have confirmed that there will be no new additions during the final day. It looks like Manchester United and Liverpool could join the list as both their targets are poised to stay with their current clubs.

Manchester United target Wanyama wants to stay at Celtic

Wanyama

Rumours suggested that United were planning on a late bid for Celtic midfielder Wanyama as Sir Alex Ferguson wants the Kenyan to replace injured Darren Fletcher and that he was ready to offer as much as £12 million for the midfield enforcer.

Wanyama has seen his success story grow from Scotland to the whole of Europe through some impressive performances in the Champions league games and especially against Barcelona helping the Scottish side to overcome the mighty Spanish giants. However the youngster has admitted that he wants to stay with Celtic and work towards developing his career. Another glamarous Champions league clash against Juventus awaits the midfielder and he can further increase his reputation come this February.

“I can confirm to you that I will be at Celtic,” Wanyama told the Daily Record. “We are playing well and our Champions League dream is on right now, so I am looking forward to the big game against Juventus.

“A lot has been said about my intended move but I have not given it much thought and even my manager feels I should play until the end of the season for Celtic.

“Then, from that point, the doors can be open for a move.”

Brendan Rodgers insists Ince move unlikely

After having signed Sturridge and Coutinho, Ince will be the only player that Rodgers would have wished to sign this January. On paper Liverpool have one of the strongest teams across the EPL and it’s all up-to their manager to gel them up as a unit and try to secure the all important European spot. Ince, 20, has been a long term target for the Reds and the youngster could have completed a perfect January for them.

Ince a former academy player at Liverpool was released to join Blackpool and he along with United bound Zaha has been the standout performers in the Championship this season. Talking about the youngster, Rodgers admitted that Liverpool are unlikely to sign the youngster:

We could still do the deal it but it looks like that one is a bit too complicated at this stage,” said Rodgers. “It’s about affordability as well. If Tom stays at Blackpool it doesn’t mean he won’t join Liverpool at a later stage. Maybe in this window it might be a difficult one for us.”
