Costa Set To Return: Predicted 4-2-3-1 Wolves Line-Up To Face Bristol City

Share
Wolves Will Take On Bristol City

It’s now 5 wins a row for the West Midlands side after a tense 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in midweek.  Conor Coady’s crucial goal line clearance led to Nouha Dicko’s goal on the break and the Mali international would feel disappointed if he were to miss out this time.

Helder Costa may well be fit after his knock and put Dicko’s place in danger, though with Ben Marshall having looked tired and been substituted at Molineux Paul Lambert may yet be tempted to play them both.

Whatever happens, the usual 4-2-3-1 formation should be on show at Ashton Gate when Wolves play Bristol City:

Probable Wolves Playing XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Paul Lambert

GK – Andy Lonergan

Having shelled out the money to bring in the 33-year-old last summer, Wolves cannot feel let down.  The former Preston and Fulham man will be between the sticks again.

RB – Conor Coady

His move to right-back has been both ridiculed and celebrated.  As he improves the defensive side of his game he is coming closer and closer to being the complete player.

CB – Danny Batth

The captain has formed a decent partnership with Hause at centre-back and Wolves fans will hope they line up together again.

CB – Kortney Hause

The young man is finding his feet at this level and will continue.

LB – Matt Doherty

The makeshift left-back will not provide the attacking threat that Coady does on the other side, but should retain his place nonetheless.

CM – Lee Evans

Lambert will be keen not to rock the boat and so, just like his centre-back pairing, will prefer to keep his two central midfielders together.

CM – Dave Edwards

Not his best night last time, however even from deep, Edwards possesses the ability to find a key pass or a goal and is crucial to the side.

AMR – Nouha Dicko

With Ben Marshall maybe just a few percent under his best right now, Dicko can keep his place in attack and will look to add to the goal he scored against Forest.

AMC – Ivan Cavaleiro

As an overseas player at just 23, it’s obvious Cavaleiro has not reached his peak in this division and so every game that goes by is a game he can potentially improve in.

AML – Helder Costa

Wolves’ main man was ruled out in midweek with an injury sustained in the warm-up, however could be back for this and may asked to swap flanks throughout the game with Dicko.

ST – Andreas Weimann

The Austrian struggles for goals rather these days but has the capabilities and should once again take on the no.9 role.
