Manchester United are set to welcome Championship outfit Derby County to Old Trafford for EFL Cup third round tie.
Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard have twice won the EFL Cup together, but now they meet for the first time as opposing managers.
Manchester United have not enjoyed a solid start to the Premier League campaign, winning just three games out of the six played so far. After two back-to-back wins, United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by new boys Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford last weekend.
Derby County, on the other hand, have had a topsy-turvy start to the Championship campaign under Frank Lampard. The Rams have just overseen a comfortable 3-1 victory over Brentford and will be coming to Old Trafford to stun the 20-time Premier League champions.
Alexis Sanchez has failed to deliver the goods this season and has been named on the bench for this one. Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku are set to lead the line and it will be interesting to see how they link up.
For Derby, Mason Mount will be the player to watch out for. His arrival from Chelsea on loan has proven to be a brilliant piece of business for Derby as Mount has scored three goals and assisted once in the Championship in nine games.
A win would certainly serve as a huge morale-booster for United and since the game is at Old Trafford, it is safe to say that Mourinho’s men are the favourites. But it will be interesting to see how the game pans out.
